Budget-Friendly Tokyo Hotel with Spacious Rooms and a Residential Shinjuku Setting

Accommodations

Sakura Cross Hotel Shinjuku East offers twin rooms and economy double rooms that are often described by guests as larger than other Tokyo hotels in the same price range. Select rooms include a sofa bed, a work desk, and a private balcony for outdoor space. Each room is soundproofed and comes with a private bathroom, a bath, and free toiletries.

Amenities

Each room includes a refrigerator, an electric kettle, and a TV for guest convenience. The hotel provides free WiFi throughout the building and offers a hairdryer and slippers in every room. Safety is managed with CCTV in common areas, fire extinguishers, and smoke alarms, and the property is entirely non-smoking.

Location

The hotel is a 5-to-6-minute walk from Higashi-Shinjuku Station and a 10-to-15-minute walk from the main Shinjuku shopping and dining area. Guests are a few steps from Itsukushima Shrine Nukebenten and a 3-minute walk from Hozen-ji Temple. Several convenience stores and a coin laundry are within 50 meters of the hotel entrance.

Guest Services

Check-in and check-out are handled via a self-service tablet, allowing guests to arrive at any time without waiting for a staff member. The hotel staff is on call and has been noted for helping carry luggage up the stairs and storing bags before check-in. Cleaning services, including fresh towels and rubbish removal, are provided every few days during longer stays.

Notable Policies

The hotel has no elevator, so guests on upper floors must use the stairs to reach rooms on floors 2 through 4. The property does not have a microwave or cooking facilities, but a refrigerator and kettle are available in each room. A guidebook in the room provides detailed instructions and covers the no-food-in-rooms policy.

Highlights

Location: 5-6 min walk to Higashi-Shinjuku Station

Rooms: Twin rooms with private balconies and sofa beds

Check-in: Self-service tablet with no set arrival time

Safety: CCTV, smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers

Nearby: Hozen-ji Temple and Itsukushima Shrine Nukebenten

“This hotel emphasizes location and value, a short walk to the station for exploring Tokyo. Rooms are compact, reflecting typical Japanese standards. In my opinion, its greatest strengths are efficient service and a quiet environment ensuring restful sleep.”

friendly staff sufficient space high tech toilet
the staff were friendly and helpful, that was very welcome. the room had sufficient space for five people. i really liked that the toilet was separate from the bathroom and high tech.
the hotel does not have a lift so carrying baggage upstairs is necessary.
